Erelinda has always been a fairly gentle soul, only engaging in violence when absolutely pressured to do so. Even in the earliest days of the Sin'dorei's acceptance into the Horde, she never held any animosity against the Alliance outside of their tolerance of Lord Garithos. Simply wanting to stay alive was the chief motivator to join the Horde cause, but basic ethics in the wake of Teldrassil pushed her to defect.
Erelinda was born to House Emberveil, a noble House in Quel'thalas. Raised in privilege and born with a talent for magic, her family doted on her and did everything possible to nurture her gifts. She rose to prominence in a family that prized talent and status over all else, and for centuries this was more than satisfactory to her.
This life of luxury largely continued until the rise of the Scourge. Her first true witnessing of destruction and death came in the form of the dead marching on her home, and the terror set in hard. But as her nation burned, she developed a new desire to make it stop, going out of her way (and against the House's wishes) to use her resources to save everyone she could. This began the chain of events that alienated her from the rest of her family: The humanitarian and fiercely kind soul amidst a House of borderline-Darwinian disregard for the fallen.
Her alienation culminated in her recent defection from the Horde. Their numerous atrocities in recent years have grown too much for the magus to stomach, even within the context of the Alliance/Horde War. Now disowned, disgraced, branded a traitor, and hated by her family for raiding their vaults (The security for which she largely built), her last act of defiance against the family resulted in House Emberveil's fall from grace in Silvermoon society.
Now, she arrived in Alliance teritory, alone and unsupported, hoping to at least atone for a fragment of her nation's crimes.
